Rocker Tycoon Day: Many Roads to Follow by Marvin Berry and the New Sound

Love ain't easy. It a simple fact. Sometimes you win most times you lose and plenty of other times winning means losing and really it's a mess. But there's a silver lining in there some where. One good thing about heart ache is that it makes rock music resonant that much truer. Joe Porter and the gang from Marvin Berry are here to remind your ex girlfriend that she'll be back... And by then it'll be too late.

Rocker Tycoon Day: Desserter by Government Jobs

Illinois, Carbondale Government Jobs After back to back nights of seeing Government Jobs on their tour, I had two things stuck in my head.  The first was urge to do some traveling.  Their EP just makes me feel like doing 90 MPH down the Pennsylvania Turnpike.  The second was was the  song from the BIG SWING PEOPLE EP, Desserter.  It starts unassumingly then blasts out of the gate!  Singer/Guitarist, Brett Haley (Bill Haley… any relation?) has a singular voice that you don’t hear often in the rock genre, a welcome change.  Steady yet sometimes subtlety intricate Drums by Marcus Mader coupled with  Bass and Guitar by David Allen and Matt McGuire, respectively, adds that pinch of salt and dash of pepper that make this punchy tune come alive.  It’s almost hard to believe that these guys aren’t from the New Brunswick Scene.  The dead end finish is a nice touch as well. http://governmentjobs.bandcamp.com/

Rocker Tycoon Day: Master by The Press

Let’s talk about whats not Evil. Actually let’s talk about a moment that made four dudes into good friends of mine. Known for their legendary mid song banter The Press is one of my favorite acts to catch live. But really I think it was Sarah Tomek of the late great Ben Franklin that said it right… you fight evil with Music!
